Casa de Campo’s new look

Casa de Campo is as good as new as of Tuesday, 22 December. The hotel has reopened following a major renovation of its rooms and suites, and a fully remodeled lobby. Also unveiled was La Cana Restaurant & Lounge by Il Circo, a fine dining restaurant with both indoor and al fresco dining, managed by the Maccioni family of Le Cirque in New York.

This is the Maccioni family’s second venture at Casa de Campo, following the beautiful Beach Club by Le Cirque at the resort’s Minitas Beach. The fitness center has been refurbished and a new Montecristo Cigar Lounge has been added.
The new “elite” rooms feature a modern look, while maintaining the use of rich mahogany woods and Coralina stone.

The rooms are equipped with 42 Led flat screen TVs and Blu-ray players and cable. Other features are alarm clock radios with dual dock for iPods and iPhones and high-speed, wireless Internet.

The new main area with its grand open spaces makes the absolute most of the surrounding natural Caribbean beauty in a minimalist design.

The main pool area has been completely renovated to include trellised platforms for early morning and late afternoon yoga classes, and shaded seating areas in natural woods and white canopies and cushions.

“Casa de Campo set the benchmark for luxury travel in the Caribbean” said general manager Alberto Grau, “and we are very excited to continue this fine reputation into the future.”

New NH hotel for winter

Spanish hotel chain NH has opened its second hotel in the Punta Cana area. The NH Royal Beach has 373 rooms and its royal suites are targeting affluent tourists. It is an adults-only hotel. The all-inclusive property seeks to attract weddings, honeymooners and family and friend reunions. Rooms operate under the Club Paradise, VIP luxury all-inclusive modality. The NH Royal Beach will open next door to the chain’s NH Real Arena, both centrally located in Bavaro. It is marketed under the NH Luxury Resorts brand for premium service at all-inclusive resorts.

Fairmont joins Roco Ki community in Dominican Republic

Punta Cana.– Fairmont will develop a hotel and residences within Roco Ki, a luxury residential and resort community in the Punta Cana region of the Dominican Republic.

Fairmont Roco Ki will entail a 255-room hotel; Fairmont Residences; Fairmont Heritage Place, a private residence club; several restaurants and bars; 17,500 square feet of meeting space, a Willow Stream Spa; a fitness area; and pool and beach facilities.

Opening is scheduled for 2010.

Top hotelier touts new luxury hotels in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The president of the National Hotels and Restaurants Association (ASONAHORES) praised the construction of a new generation of luxury hotels in Dominican Republic such as chains NH Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Westin and Fairmont.

Luis Lopez, speaking during the inaugural of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE 2008), said golf and real estate tourism are advancing in the Dominican Republic.

He noted that the Dominican Atlantic coast is relaunching with new 1,200 rooms
