New York.– More beach resorts are offering pools with water slides, no-cost children’s programs and other amenities that make them attractive, affordable alternatives for families looking for one-stop vacations, Parents magazine reports.

The magazine evaluated more than 200 beach resorts in the U.S. and the Caribbean, based on room rates and other costs, quality of children’s programs, variety of family activities, pool and beach area and other factors. The May issue of Parents lists the 10 resorts deemed best.

SANTO DOMINGO.- The country’s tourist resorts will make it easier for their personnel to go to the ballot boxes on Friday.

Employees who vote in localities far from their work places will have a more flexible schedule, said Hotels and Restaurants Association (Asonahores) executive vicepresident Arturo Villanueva. “They’ll receive facilities. That’s an inalienable right of the worker, to be able to vote.”

He said if interested, each employee will coordinate their temporary absence with their area manager. “Turns will be organized so the work in the hotel isn’t detained.”

Villanueva asked politicians and the population to behave in a civilized manner on elections day, so the productive work immediately recovers its normality. “the country has advanced much, this is a mature democracy.”

Santo Domingo.- The hotel Paradise Beach Resort & Casino in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata began an extensive renovation process of its facilities.

Antonio Herrera, vice president of sales and marketing for the chain Amhsa Marina Hotels & Resorts said  the hotel will close its doors to the public for renovation from May 6.

Santo Domingo.– The Roco Ki tourism project being built in the Dominican Republic will call for an estimated total investment of US$90mn in infrastructure works, a project promotion official revealed during the 6th Latin American Leadership Forum, held in Miami this week.

The initiative is being developed in Punta Cana, on the country’s eastern coast. Infrastructure development for the initiative was divided into two phases, of which the first will require an investment of US$40mn, the official said. (more…)

Santo Domingo. - The chain Viva Resorts launched last night its “Viva Residence” product aimed at the residential tourism market, to start in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata and Las Terrenas, Samaná.

The real estate development will include Mexico, Bahamas and Brazil and will include Bayahibe, La Altagracia, in the country’s coast east

The architect Antonio Imbert designed Viva Residence in Las Terrenas, with around 70 units among apartments and villas in front of the sea, clubhouse, gym area for children and lobby, with construction set to begin in May. Other comforts of the project will be a larger parking area to serve guests of the hotel Viva Samaná and of Viva Residence. (more…)
