Santo Domingo.- American Airlines general manager in the Dominican Republic Rafael Sanchez said the airline won’t apply the $US25 fee on a second suitcase to flyers as other carriers announced.
Sanchez said the airline isn’t cutting its flights to the country, despite the high cost of operations resulting from an increase in the price of aircraft fuel.
The executive of the U.S.-based airline, which has operated in Dominican Republic for 34 years, said American will continue its policy of allowing two suitcases per passenger with a weight of 50 pounds each, charging a minimum fee when there’s overweight.
Newspapers reported that some U.S. airlines apply a charge of $US25 for a second suitcase carried by passengers because of the considerable increase in the fuel prices.
“We are not in that, we will maintain our policy of allowing two suitcases as accompanying baggage per passenger, weighing 50 pounds each,” Sanchez said.
